Fried Scalloped Potatoes And Onions Recipe


Ingredients Needed:

6 to 8 medium sized potatoes, peeled, thickly sliced and halved once more
1 large yellow onion, skinned, sliced and quartered
One package bacon, cut into bite sized pieces
salt, pepper, garlic powder, basil
Oil for frying

Step 1: Place potatoes into microwave safe bowl, season with above seasonings or your favorite ones, and microwave uncovered until potatoes are about 1/2 cooked through.

Step 2: Heat up about 1 to 2 inches of oil in a large skillet on medium heat, preferably a coated one to prevent smoking and sticking.

Step 3: Bring potatoes out of microwave, pat dry if damp from condensation. Re-season if necessary. Stir carefully so as not to mash the potatoes up.


Step 4: Put about half of mixture in hot oil at a time. Fry for 3 minutes and then add in half of the cut up bacon and half of the onion. Fry until scalloped potatoes are golden brown and start to show bubbling spots.

Step 5: Dip out with metal slotted spoon and put on cookie sheet and into oven on warm. Lower rest of potatoes into oil and repeat.

Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

This is a wonderfully easy scalloped potatoes recipe that also tastes like Grandma slaved away in the kitchen all day.

(serves 6 to 8 people)

Ingredients:



  • 5-8 medium potatoes, sliced (about 6 to 8 cups)
  • Chopped Walnuts or shredded cheese or bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup of fresh onion, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Mix salt, pepper, garlic, cream of chicken, milk, and sour cream together in a medium sized microwavable bowl. Microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds. Mix again. Set aside.

Place and mix together potatoes and onions in a oven-proof, greased baking dish. Pour seasoning mixture on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes, covered. Remove from oven and stir well. Sprinkle optional topping over and return to oven for 20 minutes, uncovered. Serve warm. Enjoy your scalloped potatoes recipe.
